Our first meeting was held on August 29, 2009 in the school library. In attendence were Ammette Moore, Michele Judd, Michelle Clay, Daina Valenzuela, AnnaMarie Judd, Stephanie Preston, Shannon Thola, Del Thola, Billie Bright, and Mark Goodman.
Officers were elected (they are listed on the side of this blog) and the events for the first semester were discussed. The events for this semester are The San Pedro Valley Fair, Trunk or Treat, and the December Book Fair.
Shannon & Del Thola will co-chair the San Pedro Valley Fair. The Fair will be On September 19, 2009. We are going to look into having some of the High School students help out at the fair and perhaps the Trunk or Treat also.
Annete Moore volunteered to be the chairperson for the Trunk or Treat with the help of Stephanie Preston. The Trunk or Treat will be Friday, October 30, 2009.
We are still looking for someone to be the chairperson for the December Book Fair.
We decided to set up an email address for better communications and a blog to help parents be more active even if they are not able to attend regular PTO meetings. The PTO email address is stdavidpto@yahoo.com . We are also hoping to get a link for the PTO put on the school’s website.
Meetings will be held at 7:30am on the first Thursday of the month in the Conference room (unless otherwise noted). The first meeting will be this Thursday, September 3, 2009.
We also discuss some of the things we would like to raise money for. Some of the sugestions were: water faucets for the school, especially at the playgrounds, restrooms for the playground and/or track, railing at the top of the hill, shade for the little kids playgrounds, and upgrades for the MPR including curtains, sound system and lighting. These suggestions will become more focused as the year goes on.
There will be a flier going out this week with places for volunteering including an option for donating money and products.
